In Pain? Get Relief.

At Natural Health Advantage the focus is on Oriental Medicine and pain relief through the use of Eastern Medicine such as Acupuncture.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

A common goal in Eastern and Ancient Medical IllustrationWestern Treatments for Pain Management is to decrease the use or elimination of the need for narcotics. When being treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine or Physical Therapy, pain is not treated directly. Pain management using Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.), Physical Therapy or Massage seeks to minimize or totally eliminate the symptomatology. With Chinese medicine this will include a thorough, comprehensive physical examination according to the treatment principles of TCM. In addition we offer Valor Laser therapy in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

ETPS

A new technique that has been shown through research in Canada, and in many clinics throughout the United States, to combine the theories of physiology/anatomy and Chinese medicine to treat pain. This hand held device is used in many cases instead of acupuncture needles when patients are not candidates for the needle treatment.

Acupuncture

seeks to regulate the flow of qi and blood within the body by either inserting fine, sterile needles at certain acupoints or moxibustion (warming certain acupoints by various methods). This is, of course a well known technique for pain management. It can also be used to treat asthma, as shown by the research conducted by NIH ( National Institutes of Health and Research in Baltimore, Maryland) in addition to urticaria (skin disorder), tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). Used in conjunction with herbs, it has been shown to be very effective in the treatment of the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Moxibustion

burning of an herb either rolled in the shape of a cigar or burned at the end of an acupuncture needle

Tuina

a massage technique used to stimulate the circulation of blood & energy, loosen the joints and restore mobility

Shiatsu

finger pressure massage

Cupping

used with acupuncture in combination with moxibustion to treat congestion

Herbs

Chinese herbs and education are the key ingredients to pain management. We treat the individual's patterns of disharmony (indicated by symptoms). If there are no symptoms according to TCM, the body is usually in balance.

WHAT ARE HOMEOPATHIC DOSAGES?

Labeling of homeopathic products is usually provided in dilution measurements. You may see a 2x or a 2c or 6x or 6c. The "x" (decimal) means the substance has been diluted to the10th power; the number in front signifies how many times the substance has been diluted to the 10th power. The "c" (centesimal) means diluting the substance with one part the mother tincture in one hundred. The mother tincture is derived from the original substance itself then steeped in alcohol and then strained.

HOW IS HOMEOPATHY USED TODAY

In Florida and many other states within the U.S. there is no formal license necessary to practice homeopathy. There are National Board exams that are designed to protect the public from harm and to insure a certain level of competency when practicing Oriental Scenehomeopathy. Chiropractors, Acupuncture Physicians, Medical Doctors and Osteopaths may all practice homeopathy. Homeopathy has been used successfully to treat, otis media (middle ear infections), nausea, headaches, muscle soreness, premenstrual syndromes, anxiety, shingles, herpes simplex etc.

AVOID SELF TREATMENTS

When you go to the store and read a label on a remedy you are taking a homeopathic remedy the Western way. Homeopathy works best when prescribed by someone with experience classical homeopathy with an understanding of in modern, complex remedies. If two people with a headache go to the store and both buy remedy #1, they both go home… but only one will get relief. No two headaches are the same. A trained homeopathic physican treats each person individually. With a careful history, a more correct remedy can be chosen.
